The identity we developed as part of a competition amongst the Print Design classes in Graphic Communication Design Class of 2013. This was chosen by the students in the program and will function as the identity for the GRCD DAAPworks show April 23-27, 2013. This identity will be applied to print and web promotions and the environmental aspect of the senior showcase. The focus of the identity was illustrating how the many different students from the program create a unique yet harmonized group. Deliverables to be posted as completed!

Responsible for designing and developing the graphics for the large glass walls of the conference rooms featured in the Education Development Center in Waltham, MA. The challenge was a small budget that required a large scale solution. A half-tone dot pattern was developed from photographs, and multiple legibility tests were done. Simple, understated typography utilized to enhance the power of the images.

The goal of the application was extending the experience of viewing art in a museum setting. Shows the user what type of art they would be interested in (based off a taste profile created when first using the application), where such art could be seen in their city, providing further information about the art and then suggesting more art the user would be interested in based off the works they enjoyed on their museum visit. Part of a group project, my responsibilities included brand development ( mainly logo and typography) and screens featured below.

Developed all of the deliverables for my friends' wedding. Done in a slightly vintage style to reflect the decor and music planned for the event. There was a focus on sustainability with this, as the couple is very eco-minded, and all of the paper used is recycled and certain deliverable were consolidated to save paper. The reception was outdoors, so the overall tone could not be stuffy or pretentious but still have an elegant element to it.

Study of layout design through print magazine. I created the Savor and Wander magazine to target a younger, more adventurous group of ‘foodies’. The dynamic typography and photography differs from much of the existing print materials on the topic of food. I wanted to use the lines of the photography to dictate the direction of typography, so each cover and layout would be constructed different, depending on the photo. This makes the food or drink the most important element in the layout, even with the strong typography.

This icon system was developed for an existing institution, the W Hotel chain. The challenge was that the icons needed to be understood internationally, as the hotel has locations around the world. Words were also purposely excluded for that reason, so the illustration would be the only tool of communication. The goal was also to reflect the contemporary yet elegant style of the architecture and interiors of the hotels. This was done through elegant yet simple lines, balancing curved and straight elements to create an updated version of a standard icon system. These icons were also developed to be utilized in multiple outlets, such as web and mobile apps, print and environmental.

Photography series taken of pairs of people in different relationships. A study into how two people behave when they are separated and together, with a focus on the interaction when both present. Featured within the series are pairs representing marriage, siblings, mother and child, and a new couple. Done with 4x5" film photography, and all on location shoots. I wanted to have the subjects be in the environments they were most comfortable and natural in to really be able to reveal the personality and emotion between two individuals.

A study of logotypes, and the expression conveyed through the letterforms. The assignment was to develop a logotype for an existing institution or group. The logotype itself was intending to convey the feminine energy of the Supremes and evoke the look and style of the 1960s in America. The applications were designed to express two different tones for the fictional event of the 50th Anniversary Tribute Concert. The first of the two distinct tones, are somber and nostalgic, with a darker, blue green and more linear, restrained typography. The second is more celebratory, with a brighter, yellowy green and bolder typography. The visual styles for the two were also applied to concert tickets, to show how the identities could apply to multiple deliverables.
